Why make art? I ask myself this quite often. Over time, I’ve learned that I can’t not make art. I've come to recognize my internal drive to create and over the years, learned to listen and honor it.

I find I'm aiming to capture what is by appreciating the nature of things as they are, creating art that springs from a state of mind with an attitude of directness and unself-consciousness. Getting out of my own way, trusting the process and allowing what needs expression.

After receiving my BA in Studio Art, I eventually pursued my combined interest in art, psychology and counseling at Antioch New England Graduate School, studying Expressive Arts Therapy with an MA in Counseling Psychology.

Art, psychology and mindfulness meditation, have all helped shape who I am as an artist. Making art, observing the natural world, and observing the nature of things…they all are about the process, engaging fully in the present and staying there as best I can.

My current inspiration comes from currently living on the Island of Kauai, surrounded by beauty, island breezes, sea turtles, a fierce and gentle ocean, the spirit of ALOHA and studying Hawaiian culture through dancing hula and chanting.

Akahi- Be gentle
Lokahi- Stand in Unity and Harmony
Olu'olu - Be Kind & Gracious
Ha'aha'a  Have Humility
Ahonui - Be patient & Persevere

Testimonials

"Just a quick note to say Thanks! again for your help/patience, and let you know I did get the pieces all, in great shape.  I'm so pleased with them.  Molokai is already on the wall and while I'm still getting familiar with it, I wanted to say it just makes me happy each time I look at it. It is transportive.  Evokes Aloha.

“I got the print last week and its gorgeous! I am so excited to put this piece up in my home. Thank you.”   -Crystal-

“I received the coasters and I love them. I love the colors and the picture is very calming. When I look at it, it makes me feel like being in the water and noises around me die down for a moment. I used one in my office for a couple of days, placed a mug of boiling water on it with no problem!”  -Kayo-
